Ceramic Fused Sand for Cooper Tube Casting

Ceramic Fused Sand (Ceramic Bead Sand ) for Copper Tube Casting

1. Product Introduction

Ceramic fused sand, also known as ceramic bead sand or ceramic fused sand, is a high-performance spherical synthetic foundry sand made from high-purity alumina raw materials through high-temperature fusion and spheroidization. It is widely recognized as the ideal filling and core-making material for copper tube gravity / die casting.

2. Key Advantages for Copper Tube Casting

  • Spherical shape & excellent flowability

Uniformly fills long, narrow, curved or complex inner cavities of copper tubes, ensuring consistent wall thickness and smooth inner surfaces.

  • Extremely low thermal expansion

Minimal expansion at high temperatures, preventing sand expansion defects and guaranteeing high dimensional stability of copper tubes.

  • High refractoriness & chemical inertness

Resists high temperature of molten copper, avoids mechanical and chemical penetration, and produces clean, non-sticky inner walls.

  • High permeability & low gas evolution

Reduces blowholes, pinholes and gas-related defects in copper tubes significantly.

  • Excellent collapsibility & easy cleaning

After casting, the sand core breaks easily and can be quickly removed from long copper tubes, greatly improving cleaning efficiency.

  • High reusability

High strength and low breakage allow recycling rate over 95%, lowering overall production cost.

3. Typical Applications

  • Inner cavity filling sand for straight copper tubes, long copper tubes, bent copper tubes
  • Sand cores for precision copper fittings, valve bodies, connectors and electrical copper components
  • Core making in gravity casting, low-pressure casting and die casting of copper alloys

4. Recommended Particle Size

  • For general copper tubes: 70–140 mesh
  • For fine inner bores & high surface finish: 100–200 mesh
